Jonathan Majors’ Domestic Violence Trial Delayed Again in New York City

Jonathan Majors’ domestic violence trial in New York City has been delayed once again. The Marvel actor was scheduled to begin his trial on Wednesday, but a new trial date will now be set during a hearing on September 15. This is the second delay in the trial, which was previously postponed at the request of prosecutors.

The charges against Majors stem from an alleged assault on his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Jabbari reported to the police that Majors had struck her in the face and bruised her neck during a domestic dispute. Majors was charged with misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, and harassment. The strangulation charge was dropped. Majors has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Majors’ defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, has maintained her client’s innocence and claimed that Majors called the police out of concern for Jabbari’s mental health. Chaudhry also released alleged text messages between Majors and Jabbari, suggesting that Jabbari did not want him to face legal trouble.

The trial has faced multiple delays, with both the defense and prosecution citing issues with the discovery process. Majors, known for his breakout role in the HBO series “Lovecraft Country,” has seen his career prospects affected by the ongoing case. Reports emerged that he was dropped by his talent management and public relations representatives, and an advertising campaign he narrated for the Army was put on hold.

The trial will now be rescheduled for a later date, and both parties will address deficiencies in the discovery process. The Manhattan district attorney’s office has expressed its intention to present the full facts and evidence at trial.
