Inmate Escapes Jefferson County, Colorado Detention Center

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are currently searching for 42-year-old inmate Jeremy Buchanan, who escaped from the Jefferson County Detention Center on Saturday. Buchanan, who was working in the kitchen as an inmate worker, exited the building through a delivery door and escaped over the fence where deliveries are received, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Buchanan had been booked into the jail on June 2 on multiple charges, including first-degree motor vehicle theft, violations of a protection order, violation of parole, possession of a controlled substance, a traffic offense, resisting arrest, and several failure to appear offenses. The Sheriff’s office stated that Buchanan was homeless and living in Denver at the time of his arrest.

Authorities are urging anyone who sees Buchanan to immediately call 911. Further updates on the search for the escaped inmate will be provided by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation progresses.
