A Marine lost his life in a homicide incident at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, on Wednesday evening. Camp Lejeune, spanning approximately 240 square miles, serves as the base for the II Marine Expeditionary Force. It caters to U.S. Marine training as well as international military exercises.
This incident occurred just two days prior to the scheduled “Exercise Urgent Response” annual training at the base, designed to help tenant commands hone and execute emergency security procedures. In a related note, a Marine was accidentally shot and wounded in a barracks at Camp Lejeune in 2021.
