Home Depot Employee Arrested for Alleged $1.2 Million Embezzlement

Home Depot Employee Arrested for Alleged .2 Million Embezzlement

A Home Depot employee in San Rafael, California, has been arrested on charges of embezzling approximately $1.2 million over the past year, according to the San Rafael Police Department. The arrest came after Home Depot reported the incident to the police on October 17, following an internal investigation that revealed the alleged embezzlement by the female employee. The investigation found that the employee had been taking cash from the retail store since August 2022.

At the time of the arrest, the employee was found to be in possession of over $8,000 in cash. A search warrant executed at the employee’s residence uncovered a small amount of cash and a significant quantity of designer merchandise, believed to have been purchased with the embezzled funds, according to police investigators. The employee admitted to taking cash from the business since last year.

The employee has been booked into Marin County Jail on felony embezzlement charges. Detectives have added a bail enhancement due to the substantial amount of cash allegedly taken and concerns about the suspect being a flight risk. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings will follow.
