Hollywood Executive’s Son Samuel Haskell IV Identified as Murder Suspect After Torso Found in LA Dumpster

A homeless man scavenging for recyclables found a woman's torso.

In a disturbing development in Los Angeles, Samuel Haskell IV, 35, has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman’s torso in a dumpster. Haskell, the son of a notable Hollywood executive, Samuel Haskell III, was apprehended on Wednesday, not long after the body parts were found by a homeless person scavenging in a dumpster about five miles from Haskell’s Tarzana residence.

The victim is believed to be Haskell’s wife, 37-year-old Mei Haskell, who was reported missing along with her parents, Yanxiang Wang, 64, and Gaoshan Li, 72. The case began the night prior to the discovery when construction workers near the Haskell home reported seeing what appeared to be a body in black bags. However, when police arrived to investigate, the bags had vanished.

The Los Angeles Police Department, under Detective Efren Gutierrez’s lead, conducted a search of the Haskell residence after the torso was discovered. This search revealed significant blood evidence, suggesting a violent crime had taken place.

The younger Haskell’s legal troubles are not new, as he was previously arrested and charged with assault in 2008. After pleading no contest to battery, he was placed on three years’ probation in 2010.

Samuel Haskell IV is the son of Samuel Haskell III, an influential figure in Hollywood. The senior Haskell, a former executive vice president at the William Morris Agency, has represented a host of celebrities, including George Clooney, Dolly Parton, and Whoopi Goldberg, and even liaised with British royalty. He retired from the agency in 2005 and currently presides over Magnolia Hill Productions.

The couple’s three children are now in the care of the Department of Children and Family Services. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mei Haskell’s disappearance and death, as well as the whereabouts of her missing parents.

Haskell IV is currently held on $2 million bail at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys.
