Hit-and-Run Driver Sought After Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Philadelphia Crash

Philadelphia police are actively searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a motorcyclist critically injured earlier this month. The incident occurred on February 8, around 8:30 p.m., at the intersection of C Street and Alleghany Avenue.

According to authorities, a motorcycle and an SUV were traveling eastbound on Alleghany Avenue when the SUV attempted to make a southbound turn onto C Street. At that moment, the motorcycle collided with the rear of the SUV. Witnesses at the scene reported that the SUV briefly stopped before fleeing south on C Street.

The motorcyclist, identified as 20-year-old Ariel Sanchez, suffered severe injuries to his head, back, and pelvis as a result of the crash. He was immediately transported to Temple University Hospital, where he remains hospitalized. Sanchez’s injuries include a broken collarbone, a fractured skull, and blood clots. His family reports that he is currently experiencing extreme pain and faces difficulties in speaking, eating, and breathing.

Sanchez’s mother, Maria Arroyo, expressed her frustration, stating, “It’s not fair, ya’ll leaving our kids to die and not helping them. It’s not fair. He just left my son there. It’s not right.” His sister, Christina Forsythe, made a heartfelt plea to the driver responsible, urging them to come forward and take responsibility for their actions. “Just please man up to what you did, do it for him, do it for yourself. I know you have to feel some type of way about what you did to him. It’s not okay. He’s literally fighting for his life at 20 years old,” Forsythe emphasized.

Sanchez’s family is devastated by his current condition and hopes for his full recovery. Arroyo expressed her desire to see her son smiling again. “It’s really, really sad what’s going on with him, and it hurts me if I’m not going to get him fully back,” she said. Forsythe added, “He’s in a lot of pain. He says his head is pounding so bad. He can’t get up fully, he can’t talk, he has a trach in right now. He’s having a hard time.”
