Hit-and-Run Driver Fatally Strikes Pedestrian in Antioch

A pedestrian was tragically killed in Antioch early Sunday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in a Kia sedan, according to the Antioch Police. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when officers responded to a 911 call and discovered the male victim at the scene near 1800 Wilbur Avenue. However, the driver had already fled the scene.

Antioch Police officers immediately provided first aid to the pedestrian, while paramedics from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District were en route. Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

In the aftermath of the incident, police investigators diligently collected evidence and gathered information from witnesses to aid in their investigation. The hit-and-run driver responsible for this tragic incident remains at large.
