A high-speed chase through Miami-Dade County ended in North Miami after a man driving a gray pickup truck bailed out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. The incident occurred on Northwest Sixth Avenue and 131st Street. Miami-Dade police are currently at the scene collecting information. The chase, which started in the Opa Locka area around Northwest 195th Street and 47th Avenue, involved the suspect weaving in and out of traffic, driving through people’s yards, and speeding through intersections. The reckless driving nearly caused several crashes, according to witnesses.
The suspect was apprehended by Miami-Dade police after abandoning the truck and throwing a backpack under it. The reason for the chase and the suspect’s decision to flee remain unclear at this time. Scanner reports suggest a possible connection to a stolen vehicle investigation in Broward County. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. The incident began around 2:40 PM and concluded at approximately 3:10 PM. Police are currently speaking to potential witnesses and individuals involved in the incident.
