CHICAGO — The Royal Bahamas Police Force has taken action in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Taylor Casey, a 41-year-old Chicago woman who went missing on June 19 during a yoga retreat on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Chief Superintendent and Officer-in-Charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Michael Johnson, has been suspended following the emergence of a concerning voice note circulating on social media. The exact contents of the voice note have not been disclosed by authorities.

In light of Chief Superintendent Johnson’s suspension, Chief Superintendent Anthon Rahming will assume the responsibilities of officer-in-charge of the Criminal Investigation Department. This development comes after the recovery of Casey’s phone, which was found submerged under more than 50 feet of water. Both Bahamian and U.S. authorities have been unable to extract any information from the device.

During the search for Casey, police dogs detected a scent near the yoga tent, but it did not lead to any significant findings. Casey’s mother, Colette Seymore, expressed her deep dissatisfaction with the response from local authorities, stating that she felt they showed a lack of concern. Seymore traveled to the retreat in an attempt to gather more information about her daughter’s disappearance.
