High-End Showroom in San Francisco’s Design District Falls Victim to Burglary

San Francisco’s Design District witnessed yet another incident of burglary as Scic Italia, a high-end kitchen and wardrobe showroom, became the latest target. Alicia Lo, the owner of the establishment, reported the break-in that occurred on February 26 around 3 a.m. The burglar gained entry by smashing their way into the display room, where Lo had showcased the vibrant artwork of painter Kate Tova.

Tova’s artwork, known for its freeing and elaborate nature, adorned the showroom, capturing the attention of visitors. However, the thief made off with four luxury leather handbags and six limited edition silk scarves, collectively valued at over $8,000. These unique pieces held immense sentimental value for Tova, who had poured her heart and energy into their creation.

Lo, too distraught to speak on camera, expressed her desire to see Tova’s stolen items returned. While other stolen items can be replaced, the one-of-a-kind handbags and scarves hold irreplaceable significance. Lo commended the swift response of the police and firefighters and expressed her hope that the perpetrator would turn their life around. She even extended an offer of employment, preferring to provide an opportunity for change rather than witness further acts of theft.
