Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, expressed shock and sadness after her former personal assistant, Jenean Chapman, was found dead in a central Dallas apartment. Ms. Chapman, 46, was described by the duchess as “loyal, hardworking, beautiful, and fun.” Her body was discovered on Monday afternoon.
A man named James Patrick, 48, was arrested in Austin, Texas, in connection with Ms. Chapman’s death. He is currently in custody in Travis County and is facing a murder charge. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that Ms. Chapman’s death was a homicide.
Ms. Chapman had worked for Sarah Ferguson’s office between 2001 and 2005, handling various tasks such as compiling briefings, organizing travel, and coordinating publicity tours and book signings. She had graduated from Syracuse University in New York with a degree in TV, film, and production.
Sarah Ferguson expressed her condolences and pledged to donate to the family’s fundraising efforts to transport Ms. Chapman’s body back to New York City, as well as cover legal and funeral costs. The duchess mentioned that she had recently heard from Ms. Chapman, who seemed happy at the time.
