Former K-Pop Idol Kim Him-chan Faces Additional Sexual Assault Charges

Former K-Pop idol Kim Him-chan, a former member of the group B.A.P, is facing additional charges of sexual assault. This is the third sexual assault case brought against him, with the latest charges including violating South Korea’s Special Act on the Punishment of Rape and Sexual Assault Crimes. The charges stem from an incident in May 2022, where Him-chan is accused of sexually assaulting, filming, and distributing explicit footage of an unidentified woman in Seoul.

Him-chan has already been convicted of a sexual assault case in 2018, where he was found guilty of molesting a woman and forcibly kissing her. He served a 10-month prison sentence and underwent a sex crime intervention program. In addition to the latest charges, he also faces a second sexual offense for forcibly molesting two other women outside a bar in 2021.

The trial for the latest charges against Him-chan has been pushed back to November 21, 2023. The victim is seeking severe punishment for the crimes committed. Him-chan’s former group, B.A.P, disbanded in 2019 after facing legal battles with their former agency. Him-chan had been preparing for his solo debut but faced setbacks after being caught drunk driving shortly after releasing his album in October 2021.
