Former Jets Defensive Back Darryl “Buster” Skrine Wanted by Canadian Police for Missing Court Date in Bank Fraud Case

Canadian police are currently on the lookout for former Jets defensive back Darryl “Buster” Skrine, who failed to appear in court for a bank fraud case. Skrine, who was arrested last August, is accused of engaging in a bank fraud scheme involving over $100,000. The alleged scheme involved opening new bank accounts with fraudulent check deposits and withdrawing funds before the checks cleared.

The Durham Regional Police service announced on Wednesday that Skrine missed his court date on May 6 and that his GPS monitoring device has gone offline. Skrine had been granted bail from the Saskatchewan Correctional Centre on April 24. Authorities are now seeking him for charges of Fail to Appear and Fail to Comply with Release Order, offering a $2,000 cash reward for information leading to his arrest.

During Skrine’s initial arrest, police stated that there were indications of similar offenses being committed across Canada by the same individual. Skrine, who played college football at Chattanooga, was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Browns. He later signed a four-year deal with the Jets worth $25 million in 2015. Skrine appeared in 59 games for the Jets, starting in 48 of them. He went on to play for the Bears for two seasons and had brief stints with the Titans and the 49ers during the 2021 NFL season.
