Former “Home Improvement” Star Zachery Ty Bryan Arrested for DUI and Contempt of Court

Former “Home Improvement” star Zachery Ty Bryan was arrested in LaQuinta, California, over the weekend for driving under the influence (DUI) and contempt of court, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest took place on February 17, around 2 a.m., when deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle suspected of being involved in a collision.

Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies observed indications of impairment upon contacting the driver, leading to Bryan’s arrest for DUI with priors. The 42-year-old actor was taken to the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio and booked on a felony DUI charge, as well as a misdemeanor contempt of court charge.

Bryan’s bail was set at $50,000 for the DUI charge and $15,000 for the contempt of court charge. Records indicate that he made bail on Saturday. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 23 at the Indio Larson Justice Center.

This recent arrest adds to a series of legal troubles for Bryan. In July 2023, he was arrested in Lane County, Oregon, on charges of domestic violence, robbery, and harassment. Although most of the charges were dropped, Bryan pleaded guilty to assault and menacing charges in 2021, resulting in 36 months of probation and a $200 fine.

Zachery Ty Bryan gained fame for his role as Brad Taylor in the popular ’90s sitcom “Home Improvement,” alongside Tim Allen. He has also appeared in films such as “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” (2006) and “Thor: Hammer of the Gods” (2009). His most recent work was in the 2022 film “The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!).”
