The son of Citi Private Bank’s former CEO, Spencer Charrington, has been accused of groping a woman during a New Year’s party at the upscale Albany Bahamas luxury resort. According to a report by the Daily Mail, Diana Gagnon, 35, was allegedly touched by Charrington, 19, while she was dancing at a Moulin Rouge-themed event on the resort’s 600-acre property.
In response to the incident, Gagnon’s husband, Phillipe Gagnon, 55, reportedly warned Charrington to leave, but when he refused, Phillipe slapped him twice in the face. Four days later, Phillipe was arrested and charged with harming Spencer. He was released on $1,500 bail and is set to face trial on June 3, potentially facing up to six months in prison if found guilty.
Gagnon, who filed a complaint against Spencer with the Royal Bahamas Police Force, claims that her husband intervened to ensure her safety after she was subjected to a humiliating and frightening assault. Following the incident, the Gagnons’ membership at the resort, which cost $90,000 per year, was suspended.
Spencer Charrington, a theater student at Maryland’s McDaniel College, denies the allegations and told the police that he was merely complimenting the feathers on Gagnon’s dress. His lawyer allegedly proposed a settlement in February, suggesting that both parties drop all charges and pay each other $100 in damages. However, the Gagnons refused the offer as it did not reinstate their membership.
Gagnon is now urging the police to believe her and her husband’s account, which she claims is supported by witnesses present at the party. The attorney representing Spencer and Albany, the parent company of the resort, has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Albany Bahamas luxury resort, where the incident occurred, is managed by Nexus Luxury Collection, an international real estate firm specializing in luxury resorts and high-end golf courses in the US and Bahamas. Peter Charrington, Spencer’s father, serves as a senior partner for the company, having previously held executive positions at Citibank.

I am appalled to hear about this incident involving Spencer Charrington, the son of Citi Private Bank’s former CEO. It reminds me of a similar case that happened in my community a few years ago.
In our town, there was a well-known businessman who was accused of sexually harassing one of his employees. The incident occurred during a company holiday party, where alcohol was being served. The victim, a young woman, reported that the businessman had groped her without her consent.

As a blog commenter, my personal goal related to this topic is to promote a culture of respect and accountability. It is disheartening to hear about incidents like this, where someone is accused of inappropriate behavior. My plan is to engage in conversations that raise awareness about consent, boundaries, and the importance of treating others with dignity and respect. I believe that by discussing these issues openly and honestly, we can contribute to creating a safer and more inclusive society.
