Five Arrested in Ontario Mills Mall Shop Ransacking and Theft

Five individuals, including minors, have been apprehended by the Ontario Police Department on suspicion of ransacking a shop at the Ontario Mills mall and stealing approximately $5,000 worth of clothing. The incident occurred on May 8, prompting an emergency call reporting a group of four robbers, wearing white masks, looting the Polo Ralph Lauren store near the mall’s south entrance. Security footage revealed the robbers, dressed in dark clothing, vandalizing the store and hastily grabbing as much merchandise as possible.

The perpetrators swiftly fled the scene in a getaway car before law enforcement arrived. It remains unclear if a fifth individual was waiting in the vehicle for the rest of the group. Notably, Ontario has dedicated police units assigned to Ontario Mills, specializing in retail theft. Sergeant Joseph Estrada of the Ontario Police Department disclosed that officers managed to obtain the license plate number of the fleeing vehicle. By inputting this information into the police department’s Real Time Information Center, authorities successfully identified the car, which was linked to another theft being investigated by the Montclair Police Department. Unfortunately, further details regarding the Montclair police investigation are currently unavailable.

In collaboration with the Montclair Police Department, officers located the vehicle and apprehended all five suspects. Jovon Wagoner, an 18-year-old resident of Ontario, and Alexander Dorantes, a 19-year-old resident of Corona, were arrested on charges of grand theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, shoplifting, and possession of stolen property. The names of the three other individuals, who are minors, are being withheld.

Following the arrests, Ontario police officers executed a search warrant at a related residence, successfully recovering all the stolen Polo Ralph Lauren merchandise. Additionally, authorities discovered three firearms, one of which was identified as a stolen handgun.

Jovon Wagoner has been charged by the San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office with grand theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime, and shoplifting. Alexander Dorantes, on the other hand, faces charges of burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.
