The FBI is conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred at a Walmart in Beavercreek, Ohio on Monday. Four individuals were injured in the incident, which resulted in the death of the suspected gunman, Benjamin Charles Jones, who took his own life. The FBI has stated that the attack may have been partially motivated by racially motivated violent extremist (RMVE) ideology, based on evidence collected, including journal writings from the attacker. The victims of the shooting included a white woman, a white man, and two Black women.
According to the FBI, Jones purchased the assault-style weapon used in the shooting from a gun store in nearby Dayton, Ohio, the previous week. The agency described the investigation as “very active” and stated that they will continue to explore the motivating factors behind the attack.
Beavercreek Police Captain Scott Molnar expressed condolences to the families of the victims and all those affected by the tragic incident.
