Fatal Stabbing Outside Washington, D.C. McDonald’s Over Sauce Dispute

A dispute over sauce outside a McDonald’s in Washington, D.C., escalated into a fatal stabbing, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Naima Liggon. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday outside a McDonald’s in the 1900 block of 14th Street, Northwest. Liggon was transported to a hospital in a private vehicle but succumbed to her injuries. A 16-year-old girl from Waldorf, Maryland, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder while armed, assault with intent to kill, aggravated assault, felony assault, and carrying a dangerous weapon.

Detective Brendan Jasper testified in D.C. Superior Court that the stabbing occurred during an argument over “sweet-and-sour sauce” involving three girls. Liggon and another girl allegedly initiated physical violence against the suspect, who then lunged at Liggon with a seven 1/2-inch pocketknife, fatally injuring her.

The suspect pleaded not involved, claiming self-defense, while prosecutors argued that she was the only person who brought a knife to the altercation. D.C. Superior Court Judge Sherri Beatty-Arthur remarked on the tragic outcome of a dispute over sauce. Liggon was a student at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf.
