A shooting incident occurred on Sunday night at the Bella Vista at Hilltop apartments on Richmond Parkway, resulting in the death of one individual and critical injuries to another. Richmond police responded to the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m., where they found two victims upon arrival. Sadly, one of them succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other remains in a stable but critical condition at a local hospital trauma center as of Tuesday morning.
The deceased individual has not been identified by authorities at this time. Richmond city spokesperson, Lynnelle Sanchez, confirmed that the shooting was connected to the apartment complex and did not involve any gunfire between vehicles on the roadway.
This incident marks the fourth homicide investigation conducted by Richmond police within a week, with two other shootings occurring approximately eight hours apart. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office has yet to release the identities of the victims despite repeated requests.
In 2024, Richmond police have already investigated seven homicides, following eight cases in 2023. Sanchez stated that investigators do not believe the fatal shooting on Monday is linked to the three previous incidents that occurred within hours of each other on June 18 and 19.
No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made in any of the four recent shooting deaths.
