Fatal DUI Crash Claims Life of Oakley Driver

A tragic incident unfolded in Oakley, East Contra Costa County, California, as a fatal DUI crash claimed the life of a local driver. Victor Alfonso, a 31-year-old resident of Oakley, tragically lost his life in the accident. The City of Oakley released a statement confirming Alfonso’s demise, stating that he passed away at Sutter Delta Hospital after being swiftly transported there by ambulance.

The incident occurred on Monday night when Contra Costa County Fire Protection crews stumbled upon the crash site around 12:30 a.m. The wreckage was found on southbound Bethel Island Road and East Cypress Road. According to the police report, Alfonso was driving at a high speed when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to mount the raised center median. The car then collided with a light pole on the driver’s side, sliding sideways across the center median.

Authorities investigating the crash discovered evidence suggesting that Alfonso had been drinking prior to the accident. Contra Costa County Fire crews promptly initiated rescue efforts, extricating Alfonso from the wreckage. They provided immediate medical attention at the scene before transferring him to an awaiting ambulance.
