The New York Police Department (NYPD) is currently investigating the deaths of a family of four on the Upper West Side. The victims, a 41-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and their children aged 3 and 1, were found stabbed to death inside their apartment at 328 W. 86th St. The discovery was made during a wellness check on Monday afternoon. Police were alerted by the father of the building’s superintendent, who was attempting to contact his 41-year-old son.
Upon arrival, officers found the 40-year-old wife bleeding on the floor after the superintendent’s father looked through the peephole and saw her. The couple and their two young sons were pronounced dead at the scene. Each victim had sustained stab wounds. Investigators discovered kitchen knives at the apartment and found no signs of forced entry.
Residents of the building expressed shock and grief over the incident. The superintendent, who grew up in the building, was described as a doting family man by neighbors. The family had been preparing to move to Westchester County, where the superintendent had recently accepted a new job. The motive behind the incident remains unknown.
