Exxon Mobil Executive Faces Sexual Assault Charge in Texas Hotel

An Exxon Mobil executive, David Scott, is facing a second-degree felony sexual assault charge after being arrested at a hotel outside Houston, Texas. The arrest took place on October 5, 2023, at a La Quinta Inn & Suites in Magnolia. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest on Monday, October 9, 2023.

According to the sheriff’s office, officers responded to a call from a female who reported being sexually assaulted by a male in one of the hotel rooms. David Scott, 49, of Spring, Texas, was subsequently arrested and is currently being held on a $30,000 bond.

David Scott is a senior vice president of Exxon Mobil’s upstream shale business and has been an employee of the company for over 26 years. It is unclear what role, if any, Scott had in Exxon’s reported discussions to acquire Pioneer Natural Resources, a deal potentially worth up to $60 billion.

Exxon Mobil has acknowledged the allegations against Scott but declined to comment further, stating that it is a personal matter. However, the company confirmed that Scott will not continue his work responsibilities while the investigation proceeds.
