Shanna Gardner-Fernandez, the ex-wife of a Microsoft executive who was fatally shot in front of his toddler in Florida, has been charged in connection with his murder.
Prosecutors announced that Gardner-Fernandez and her new spouse Mario Fernandez Saldana have been indicted by a grand jury. The charges come after allegations that Gardner-Fernandez and Fernandez Saldana planned the murder of Jared Bridegan in February 2022. Gardner-Fernandez, who was married to Bridegan for six years, has been arrested in Washington state and will be extradited to Jacksonville to face charges including first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit a capital felony, and child abuse.
Prosecutors will seek the death penalty against Gardner-Fernandez and Fernandez Saldana. He has pleaded not guilty. Henry Tenon, the handyman and tenant allegedly enlisted to carry out the crime, has already pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. The motive behind the murder plot has not been revealed. The case gained national attention due to the shocking nature of the crime and the contentious divorce between Bridegan and Gardner-Fernandez.
