Roselle Stevenson, the ex-wife of former Utah County therapist David Hamblin, has been arrested on a charge of sodomy on a child related to incidents that reportedly occurred 30 years ago. The arrest comes as part of an ongoing investigation into ritualistic child sexual abuse cases that began over a year ago. Multiple victims have come forward, and Stevenson is believed to be one of the main suspects in sexually assaulting several children over an extended period.
The current charge against Stevenson is connected to one victim who reported being sexually abused for several years by both Stevenson and Hamblin in their former home. The victim, who is now in her 40s, stated that the abuse began when she was six years old and continued until she was about 12 or 13 years old.
David Hamblin, Stevenson’s former husband, was previously charged in 2022 with six counts of first-degree aggravated sexual abuse of a child in Manti in 1990, as well as six other felony charges related to sodomy and rape of a child in American Fork from 1986 to 1992. In 2012, Hamblin faced 18 felony charges related to child sexual abuse, but those charges were later dismissed. Hamblin was arrested in September 2022 and released on bail in March, despite community opposition.
Stevenson and Hamblin filed for divorce in 1999. Stevenson is currently booked in the Utah County Jail. The investigation into the ritualistic child sexual abuse cases is ongoing.
