Eminem’s highly anticipated 12th studio album, rumored to be his final release, has caused a stir with its scathing lyrics targeting various individuals, including hip-hop mogul Diddy. Titled “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),” the album showcases Eminem’s unrelenting attack on Diddy, who has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and other crimes in recent years. It is important to note that Diddy has vehemently denied all accusations.
One of the diss tracks, “Antichrist,” references a disturbing hotel video that captured Diddy physically assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie. Eminem’s lyrics allude to the incident, suggesting that Diddy’s actions were even more severe than what was captured on tape. Another track, “Fuel,” indirectly addresses the sexual assault lawsuits against Diddy, questioning his integrity by spelling out the word “rapper” and seemingly omitting the letter “P,” which was part of his former stage name, P. Diddy.
Furthermore, Eminem’s lyrics touch upon rumors that Diddy paid for the murder of Tupac Shakur, as well as claims that he had an explosive device planted in Kid Cudi’s car while he was dating Cassie. The latter incident was mentioned in a lawsuit filed by Cassie against Diddy in November 2023, where she alleged that Diddy had threatened to blow up Kid Cudi’s car and ensured that he was present with friends when it occurred. Kid Cudi confirmed the incident to be true through a spokesperson.
While Eminem’s album primarily focuses on his disdain for Diddy, it also takes aim at other notable figures such as Kanye West, Ja Rule, Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, and Caitlyn Jenner. The album, filled with provocative lyrics, showcases Eminem’s signature style of delivering hard-hitting and controversial content.
It is worth mentioning that despite the intense dissing on “The Death of Slim Shady,” Eminem and Diddy previously collaborated on a remix of “Hello Good Morning” in 2010. This collaboration highlights the complex dynamics within the hip-hop industry.
