Elderly Woman Robbed and Carjacked at Gunpoint in East Oakland

An East Oakland woman, aged 60, fell victim to a terrifying robbery and carjacking incident on Monday evening. The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. in the 2800 block of 11th Avenue, a primarily residential area in Oakland, California. The victim was in the process of loading items into her red 2013 Buick Encore, a subcompact SUV, when she was approached from behind by two male suspects.

The assailants forcefully seized her purse and cell phone from her hands, leaving her defenseless. Adding to the distressing situation, one of the suspects brandished a handgun, causing the woman to flee while screaming for help. Fortunately, she did not sustain any physical injuries during the ordeal.

The suspects swiftly made their escape in the victim’s vehicle, which, as of midday Tuesday, had not yet been recovered. Detailed descriptions of the perpetrators have not been made available at this time.

In response to this alarming incident, the Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Oakland have joined forces to offer a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
