A 19-year-old man from East Palo Alto has been apprehended by authorities on suspicion of discharging a firearm during a confrontation with bystanders after a hit-and-run incident in Redwood City. The incident occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. on July 7 in the 100 block of Orchard Avenue, as reported by the Redwood City Police Department.
According to law enforcement officials, the suspect attempted to flee the scene on foot but was pursued by bystanders. A struggle ensued between the man and several individuals, culminating in a gunshot. The suspect managed to escape while brandishing a firearm. During the altercation, one of the bystanders sustained minor burns from a discharged bullet casing, as confirmed by the police.
Following an investigation, detectives successfully identified the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. Additionally, it was discovered that the individual was wanted by neighboring law enforcement agencies for unrelated offenses. On Thursday, authorities apprehended the suspect at his residence. He has since been booked into Santa Clara County jail on multiple arrest warrants.
