Driver Crashes Through Barricades at Ironman Triathlon in Madison, Wisconsin

New dashcam footage has emerged showing a driver crashing through barricades during last month’s Ironman triathlon in Madison, Wisconsin. The video reveals the driver ignoring a police officer’s commands while participants and bystanders scramble to safety. Police report that the driver reached speeds of up to 50 miles per hour during the incident. The scene evoked memories of a similar incident that occurred in Waukesha nearly two years ago.

Assistant Dane County District Attorney Jackie Frank stated that the majority of witnesses and victims expressed fear for their lives, believing they were at risk of experiencing an incident similar to the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Devinn Taufner, allegedly told police that he simply wanted to go home. He now faces charges of recklessly endangering safety by the use of a dangerous weapon.
