Driver Arrested After Police Chase Following Shooting Incident in Northwest Miami-Dade

A 22-year-old driver has been arrested and is facing multiple charges after a police chase in Northwest Miami-Dade. The incident began with a shooting at a Burger King on Northwest 27th Avenue near 79th Street. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing bullet shells on the ground. Shortly after the shooting, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted speeding away, even driving onto a grassy median on 16th Street.

The chase continued until another car collided with the suspect’s vehicle on 121st Street and 17th Avenue. Fortunately, the occupants of the second vehicle were unharmed. The driver of that vehicle spoke to reporters, stating that the suspect’s car hit the front of his truck while attempting to flee from the police. He described the chaotic scene with numerous police cars surrounding them.

Eventually, the police were able to apprehend the suspect and two individuals were taken into custody. However, only the driver, identified as Rafael Joubert Francois, has been charged in connection with the incident. He is facing charges of fleeing from the police, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving with a suspended license.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine if the shooting incident and the subsequent chase are related.
