Donut Shop Owner Arrested for Manufacturing and Selling Synthetic Drug “Pink Cocaine”

San Jose police have apprehended and charged Luis Carrillo-Moyeda, the owner of a Yum Yum Donuts franchise in South San Jose, for allegedly producing and distributing a synthetic drug known as “pink cocaine.” The arrest came after authorities received a tip regarding illegal narcotics manufacturing and sales taking place at Carrillo-Moyeda’s business located in the 400 block of Blossom Hill Road, near Snell Avenue.

On January 19, detectives and special-operations officers executed search warrants at both the donut shop and Carrillo-Moyeda’s residence in South San Jose. During the operation, law enforcement seized various illegal narcotics, narcotics manufacturing equipment, a significant amount of cash, an unregistered firearm, and ammunition.

The recovered narcotics were identified as a recently emerged synthetic drug that combines cocaine with substances such as ketamine, ecstasy, meth, and opioids. This dangerous concoction is known by several names, including “Tusi,” “2C,” “pink cocaine,” “Pantera Rosa,” and “Pink Panther.”

Carrillo-Moyeda was arraigned on January 24 and is scheduled to appear in court again on March 4, according to court records. Presently, he is not in custody, as indicated by jail records.
