The eagerly anticipated domestic violence trial involving actor Jonathan Majors has been pushed back in New York City. Prosecutors applied for an extension on Thursday, requesting additional time to prepare for the proceedings. The trial, set to begin, was postponed until at least September 6.
Majors, a renowned 33-year-old actor who recently portrayed the villainous character Kang the Conqueror on the silver screen, appeared in court for the intended start of his trial. The charges leveled against him stem from a March altercation with a woman. According to her account, Majors allegedly twisted her arm behind her back, struck her on the head, and forcefully pushed her into a vehicle.
As a result of the incident, the woman sought medical attention at a local hospital for minor injuries to her neck and head. These injuries included a cut to her ear. Majors is facing misdemeanor charges, including assault. If convicted, he could face a sentence of up to one year in jail.
Following the prosecution’s request for additional time to gather evidence, the presiding judge scheduled a new tentative trial date for September 6.
