Deputy U.S. Marshals Apprehend Probation Violator in Greensboro

Deputy United States Marshals, along with local law enforcement agencies, successfully apprehended a man wanted for a probation violation in Greensboro, North Carolina. Led by Senior Inspector Deputy United States Marshal Michael Six, a team of ten men and women conducted an operation on Benjamin Benson Street, southeast of downtown.

The operation involved deputy United States marshals from the middle district of North Carolina, state probation officers, Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies, Winston-Salem Police Department officers, and High Point Police Department officers. The team gathered additional information by conducting license plate checks and closely monitoring the targeted apartment building.

After confirming the presence of the wanted individual, the team called out to him, instructing him to exit the apartment with his hands raised. A woman, who appeared to have been asleep, emerged from the residence first. The marshals maintained a show of force and professionalism throughout the operation.

Upon seeing news cameras, the apprehended individual expressed surprise and questioned their presence. The Deputy U.S. Marshals emphasized that they treat every fugitive equally, employing consistent tactics and apprehension methods. Following the successful arrest, the team debriefed before leaving the scene.

Deputy U.S. Marshals play a crucial role in law enforcement, not only apprehending criminals but also providing security for federal court facilities, ensuring the safety of judges and court personnel, transporting federal prisoners to correctional facilities, executing court orders, seizing assets obtained illegally, managing those assets, and safeguarding government witnesses and their families.

Marshal Catrina Thompson oversees the middle district of North Carolina, having been nominated by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Her appointment followed her retirement as the chief of the Winston-Salem Police Department.
