A video capturing a robbery on the 10 Freeway in South Los Angeles, after a vehicular assault, has surfaced on social media. The incident, occurring shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as a combined case of vehicular assault and robbery.
According to CHP, the confrontation began when a black Dodge Caravan deliberately collided with a black Alfa Romeo sedan on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Arlington Avenue. The aftermath was recorded by an occupant of a passing vehicle. The footage reveals at least four masked individuals, clad in dark hoodies, emerging from a minivan and approaching a damaged, smoking car on the roadside. The car’s driver is seen kneeling, hands raised in surrender.
During the ordeal, the robbers seemed to scour the victim’s vehicle, while another individual, positioned nearby, appeared to film the crime. An eyewitness, choosing to remain anonymous, described the incident as surreal, likening it to a movie scene, but affirmed the reality of such events in Los Angeles. The witness commended the victim’s non-resistant response, considering it the safest course of action.
The CHP reported that the suspects, wielding a hammer and crowbar, escaped in a white Chevrolet Malibu, heading eastbound on the 10 Freeway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Additionally, a Ford Mustang was also involved in the incident.
The stolen items, if any, remain unidentified, and the potential connection between the suspects and the victim is yet to be determined. The suspects are still at large, and CHP is actively investigating the incident.
