In a concerning development in Maiduguri, the daughter of Hon Bukar Abacha, a Member of the Borno State House of Assembly representing Ngala local government area, was found dead at her residence. Identified as Mrs. Amma Buwa, she was discovered by her husband upon his return from a nearby mosque after evening prayers on Tuesday, October 17, around 6:30 pm.
The incident, which transpired around Gidan Dembe, came less than 24 hours after Governor Babagana Zulum ordered the demolition of brothels, shanties, and makeshift beer joints at the Railway Terminus area. The Governor had stated that these locations could potentially be harboring criminal activities within the city.
Mrs. Buwa was found with her limbs tied, and her two-year-old child was beside her, visibly distressed. Her husband promptly reported the matter to the local authorities. Officials from the Gwange Police Division moved Mrs. Buwa’s body to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examination and further inquiries.
The tragic event has stirred unease among Maiduguri residents, drawing significant attention and crowds. A family member shared the news of the incident on social media and announced that Mrs. Buwa’s funeral would be held the following morning at the 777 Housing Estate in Maiduguri.
