Folk-country sensation, Zach Bryan, found himself in police custody on Thursday night in Vinita, Oklahoma, following an incident that led to charges of obstructing an investigation, as per Craig County Sheriff’s office online records. The obstruction charge is defined by state law as “willfully delaying or obstructing any public officer in the discharge or attempt to discharge any duty of his office.”
Bryan, the voice behind hits like “I Remember Everything,” recounted the series of events that culminated in his arrest in a heartfelt video message shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. He admitted to getting verbally confrontational with an officer after his security guard was stopped for a traffic violation, an event preceded by Bryan’s own run-in with the law a few days prior for speeding. The artist acknowledged that his refusal to provide his address during the initial encounter might have escalated the situation.
In his public recounting of the event, a repentant Bryan described his own behavior as “ridiculous” and “immature,” adding that he did not consider himself above the law. Following a few hours in custody at the Craig County jail, Bryan managed to reconcile with the involved officer, extending his apologies and shaking hands.
Acknowledging his lapse in judgment, Bryan emphasized his support for law enforcement and expressed his apologies in a note posted on social media. Despite the hiccup, Bryan’s music career has soared in 2023 with a widely acclaimed 16-track self-titled album released in August and a record-setting stint on the Billboard Hot 100 with a track from his debut album. Bryan wishes to share his side of the story to prevent misinformation and to take responsibility for his actions.
