American citizen Terry Ray Krieger, 68, previously convicted of child sex crimes in Kenya, was denied bail on new defilement charges. Arrested on November 10th, Krieger is accused of assaulting a 3-year-old in Mavoko County, near Nairobi, earlier this month. He faces additional allegations of illegal stay in Kenya.
Senior Principal Magistrate Barbra Ojoo ruled against granting bail, citing Krieger’s history as a repeat offender and potential flight risk. Krieger, who uses a wheelchair, had sought bail for his additional care needs. He is scheduled to remain in custody until a hearing on November 27 and has yet to enter a plea.
In 2014, Krieger was sentenced to a 50-year term for sexually abusing Kenyan children and distributing their images online. However, he was mysteriously released in November 2022 after serving just eight years. A Michigan native, Krieger had previously been convicted in the U.S. in 1992 for sexual conduct with a minor and served a three-year sentence until his 1995 release.
