A conservative nonprofit organization, Building America’s Future, has released a one-minute advertisement blaming President Biden’s border policies for recent high-profile murders of American women. The ad, which will be broadcast twice during CNN’s Thursday night debate between Biden and former President Donald Trump, aims to appeal to female and swing-state voters.
The advertisement, accompanied by foreboding music and bold red letters, highlights headlines of these tragic incidents. It specifically mentions the arrest of Victor Martinez Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who was wanted for murder in his home country and is now charged with raping and beating Rachel Morin, a mother of five, to death. The ad suggests that Biden’s open border policies allowed Hernandez to enter the country.
The spot also references the murder of Laken Riley, a Georgia woman, and criticizes the Biden administration for allegedly ignoring the immigration problems and the harm caused by their policies. Morin’s mother, in a recent Fox News interview, expressed her dissatisfaction with the border policies and the administration’s response to these incidents.
The advertisement will run in critical swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Building America’s Future had previously accused CNN of refusing to air a similar spot during Biden’s last State of the Union address, which focused on the murder of Laken Riley.
In addition to the television broadcast, the nonprofit organization has planned mobile billboards and 2D projections on famous buildings in Atlanta, Georgia; Greensboro, North Carolina; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to display portions of the ad.
