Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert Granted Temporary Restraining Order Against Ex-Husband

Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, following a series of disturbing incidents. The Republican representative for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District obtained the temporary order on Friday, Feb. 2, and is now seeking to make it permanent.

According to court documents, Boebert appeared in Garfield County court on Thursday morning to request the extension of the restraining order. This move comes after Jayson Boebert’s recent arrest in two separate incidents. The first incident occurred on Jan. 6 at a restaurant in Silt, Colorado, where he was involved in a confrontation with his ex-wife. Charges stemming from this incident include disorderly conduct, third-degree trespass, and obstruction of a peace officer.

The second incident took place on Jan. 9 at a residence outside Silt, involving Jayson Boebert and his 18-year-old son. Allegedly, Boebert assaulted his son and even grabbed a rifle, prompting his son to call the authorities. He now faces charges of prohibited use of weapons, harassment, and assault in the third degree.

It is worth noting that Lauren Boebert’s divorce from Jayson Boebert was finalized in October of last year. However, the past few weeks have been eventful for the congresswoman. In addition to the legal issues surrounding her ex-husband, Boebert recently announced that she will not seek reelection in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. Instead, she plans to run in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, which covers the Eastern Plains and is currently represented by Republican U.S. Rep. Ken Buck.

Buck, who has held the position since 2015, announced last fall that he would not seek reelection in 2024 due to his concerns about the Republican Party’s support of former President Donald Trump and what he perceives as an embrace of conspiracy theories. Boebert narrowly won her bid for reelection in 2022, defeating Democratic challenger Adam Frisch by just over 500 votes in a race that triggered an automatic recount. Frisch has expressed his intention to run for the district again.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert continues to navigate a challenging political landscape. Her decision to seek a restraining order against her ex-husband adds another layer of complexity to her already eventful career. The outcome of the court hearing and the potential permanent restraining order will undoubtedly have significant implications for both Boebert’s personal life and her political future.
