Cold Case Revived: Search for Dori Ann Myers Continues

A 17-year-old missing person case involving Dori Ann Myers, who disappeared at age 43, is receiving renewed attention from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. A billboard featuring her face has been erected along U.S. Highway 1, south of the St. Lucie-Indian River County line, in hopes of eliciting new leads.

Detective Paul Taylor of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office expressed hope that someone has information about Myers’ mysterious disappearance. The current case classification is ‘missing persons,’ but given the evidence, investigators believe Myers may have been abducted and could have met with foul play.

Records indicate that on the evening of Jan. 10, 2006, Myers was seen at a Fort Pierce bar, the St. Lucie Inn. Early the next day, she was witnessed leaving for her Lakewood Park residence with two men she had met at the bar. A neighbor recalled hearing disturbances that night and witnessed Myers’ car departing and a subsequent fire at Myers’ residence.

Later, her vehicle was discovered burned and abandoned approximately 80 miles away near Lake Okeechobee in Glades County. Myers and the two men remain unaccounted for despite thorough searches.

Det. Taylor believes someone might hold crucial details, emphasizing that even minor information can prove pivotal. A $10,000 reward has been announced for leads resulting in an arrest.
