Cold Case Breakthrough: California Man Identified After 27 Years

In a recent development, authorities have successfully identified the remains found in a desert area near Kingman, northwest Arizona in 1996, ending a 27-year-long mystery. Through advanced DNA testing conducted by a Texas-based forensic firm, the body was identified as Sherman George, a Los Angeles resident and Army veteran. George, who was in his 30s or 40s at the time of his death, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was buried in a shallow grave, sparking homicide suspicions. Notably, George was estranged from his family since late 1994 and was never reported missing, often visiting the Arizona and California deserts with military friends.
