Chaos in Tigard, Oregon: Drug-Fueled Subaru Chase Ends in Dramatic Backyard Arrests

Last Friday, Tigard police witnessed a high-stakes drama unfold as a man and a woman, later identified as Matthew Hodgson and Brittney Clawdus, led authorities on a daring escape attempt. The incident began in a parking lot in the 16200 block of Southwest Pacific Highway, where officers responded to a call about two individuals slumped over in a car.

The scene quickly escalated when officers approached the Subaru to check on the occupants. Hodgson, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, and Clawdus made a bold move to flee, ramming two police cars in the process. This adrenaline-charged escape was captured on a police car’s dashboard camera, adding a gripping visual to the already sensational story.

Hodgson, 25, with a history of vehicle-related offenses, and Clawdus, 22, abandoned their vehicle in a residential driveway on the 14800 block of Southwest Beef Bend Road. In a scene akin to a Hollywood action movie, they leaped over fences and dashed through backyards, attempting to evade the pursuing officers.

The pursuit reached its climax when police found Hodgson, who had an outstanding arrest warrant, hiding under a canopy in the back of a truck. He faces a slew of charges, including assaulting a peace officer and reckless endangering. Clawdus, discovered in the backyard of a home, is likely facing a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

This incident has captured the attention of Tigard residents and beyond, painting a picture of a dramatic and dangerous pursuit that could rival any action-packed blockbuster. The couple’s desperate attempt to escape law enforcement has left the community both stunned and intrigued by the audacity and recklessness displayed in this real-life chase.
