A video posted on Instagram late Friday night shows a California deputy allegedly committing police brutality against a teenage girl at Victor Valley High School in Victorville. The footage captures the deputy body-slamming the 16-year-old girl, causing her to go limp. The incident occurred after deputies from the Victorville PD were called to the school to break up a fight.
According to a representative from the Victorville PD, deputies attempted to disperse the rowdy group by firing pepper balls, but were unsuccessful. The crowd then surrounded the deputies as the girl allegedly tried to seize the pepper ball launcher. The police claim that the deputy pulled the girl away, causing her to fall to the ground. However, the video contradicts this statement.
The girl was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but the extent of her injuries and her current condition have not been disclosed. The police arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly punching a deputy in the face during the incident. The boy was later booked into a juvenile hall.
The district attorney’s office is currently reviewing the matter to determine if charges are warranted against both the boy and the girl. The police department has not commented on whether they are investigating the actions of the deputy or if any disciplinary measures will be taken.
