Burglary Suspect Arrested in San Mateo County After Months-Long Investigation

San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday the successful arrest of a burglary suspect following an extensive investigation that spanned several months and jurisdictions. The case, which originated in San Carlos, involved a series of burglaries that were first reported to law enforcement in December.

The suspect employed a consistent modus operandi, gaining access to apartment complexes by entering the lobby or mailroom. Once inside, the individual would pilfer packages and other valuable items. As the number of reported burglaries increased, investigators began to establish connections to similar incidents in Redwood City and San Mateo.

Collaborating with police departments in all the affected cities, the sheriff’s office identified a 54-year-old Redwood City resident as the primary suspect. Last Thursday, law enforcement apprehended the individual on multiple counts of residential burglary.

Detective David Brandt of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. He encourages anyone who may have experienced similar burglaries or possesses information relevant to the case to contact him at dbrandt@smcgov.org.

The fact that this investigation spanned several months and jurisdictions shows the dedication and commitment of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. This kind of collaboration is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of our communities. Kudos to the officers involved in this successful arrest!

  2. This is absolutely appalling! It’s infuriating to think that it took several months and multiple jurisdictions to catch a burglary suspect. How is it possible that someone could commit crimes for such a long period of time without being apprehended? This is a clear indication of a failure in our justice system. It’s disheartening to see how inefficient and ineffective law enforcement can be. The fact that it took so much time and effort to catch this suspect is a disgrace. We deserve better protection and swifter
