A Brooksville man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a body was discovered near a Dollar General store in Brooksville, Florida. Hernando County deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person at the store on Cortez Boulevard at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The caller informed deputies about the presence of a body in the back of a dead-end road behind the Dollar General.
Fire officials confirmed that the body was in the early stages of decomposition and appeared to be the result of a murder. Hernando County Sheriff’s Office detectives identified the deceased individual and a person of interest in their death. The person of interest, identified as R. W. Resca Jr., 53, confessed to the murder and disposing of the body, according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation has revealed that this was an isolated incident of domestic nature, and there is no threat to the community, as stated by the HCSO in a news release. R. W. Resca Jr. has been booked into the Hernando County Jail and is being held without bond.
