Authorities in Jefferson County, Colorado, are investigating a case where an unknown individual broke into a private mausoleum at Crown Hill Cemetery and stole portions of a body from a coffin. The incident was reported on Wednesday morning when deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding damage to the mausoleum.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered severe damage to the front of the crypt and the casket inside. It is believed that the suspects forced their way into the mausoleum overnight and took body parts from the stolen casket. Despite a search of the area, the suspects were not found.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact their tipline at 303-271-5612. The investigation into the theft is ongoing.
