Oakland police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting and car collision that occurred on January 13. Derrick Scott, a 29-year-old Oakland resident, was driving on the 9400 block of A Street in East Oakland when he was targeted by two gunmen in another vehicle. The assailants pulled over and opened fire at Scott, prompting him to swerve and collide with another car in an attempt to evade the shots.
Scott was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds later that day. Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the incident and have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting. Fortunately, no other individuals were injured, although a parked car was struck by gunfire.
