New Zealand Olympic runner Zane Robertson has been arrested in Kenya on allegations of sexual assault and illegal possession of an unlicensed AK-47 rifle, authorities confirmed on Thursday. Robertson, who is currently serving an eight-year ban for doping, appeared in court following his arrest in Iten, a renowned training base for long-distance runners.
Police obtained a court order for a five-day custody to question him and complete their investigation.
Charges under the sexual offenses act and for illegal possession of a firearm are expected to be filed upon conclusion of the inquiry.
