Authorities in Washington County are searching for two suspects involved in an armed home invasion in the Village of Richfield. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, when a resident received an unexpected package from UPS. A male suspect, described as black and wearing a gray sweatshirt and orange Hi-Vis vest, approached the residence and claimed the package was for him, despite not living at the address.
The suspect attempted to force his way into the home, leading to a physical confrontation with the residents. He eventually fled the scene. Later that evening, at approximately 9:35pm, the same residence reported that two armed black males broke a window and entered the home. The victims informed the intruders that the package had already been turned over to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The suspects then fled the scene once again.
Initial witness reports suggest the presence of a vehicle in the area during the first incident, potentially linked to the suspects. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information or video surveillance footage related to the incident to come forward.
Washington County Sheriff Martin R. Schulteis expressed determination in holding the suspects accountable for their actions, emphasizing that such incidents will not be tolerated in the county. As a result, increased law enforcement presence can be expected in the area as further investigation takes place.
Residents are encouraged to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 262-335-4378 with any relevant information regarding the case.
