Kevin Rodriguez, 18

Authorities are currently searching for an 18-year-old man, Kevin Rodriguez, in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred over the weekend at Worcester State’s campus. The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office has issued a warrant for Rodriguez’s arrest on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

The shooting took place around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, resulting in two men being shot. University police responded to a 911 call and both victims were transported to a local hospital. Sadly, a 19-year-old man succumbed to his injuries, while a 21-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred near Wasylean Hall and Sheehan Hall, both dormitories on the Worcester State campus. State Police have clarified that the shooting was the result of an altercation and not an active shooter incident. Neither Rodriguez nor the victims were students at Worcester State.

A shelter-in-place order was issued at the school, which was later lifted. One person was arrested near the scene and charged with trespassing and illegal possession of a firearm. Police have also obtained video footage related to the shooting and identified persons of interest they wish to interview.

Authorities consider Kevin Rodriguez to be armed and dangerous, and anyone who sees him is urged to call 911 immediately. State police can also be contacted at (508) 453-7589 with any information regarding Rodriguez’s whereabouts.
