Auburn Football Player’s Wife Granted Bail in Murder-for-Hire Plot

Former Auburn football player Robert Shiver’s estranged wife, Lindsay Shiver, has been granted bail in the murder-for-hire plot that she allegedly orchestrated against her husband. Lindsay, along with her alleged lover Terrance Bethel and accomplice Faron Newbold, were arrested on July 21 after their plan was uncovered during a police investigation into a burglary at a bar on Great Guana Cay in the Bahamas.

Prosecutors reportedly withdrew their objections to Lindsay and her co-defendants’ release from prison after speaking with Robert Shiver. As per Bahamas Court News, Lindsay, 36, is now set to be freed on a $100,000 cash bail, under the condition that she wears an ankle bracelet and remains in the Bahamas. Her court appearance is scheduled for October 5. Bethel and Newbold were granted bails of $20,000 each, and like Lindsay, they must wear tracking devices and check in with the Marsh Harbour Police Station three times a week. All three have also surrendered their travel documents and are banned from contacting Robert.

Robert Shiver, who was informed about the murder plot while he was at his family’s mansion in Thomasville, Georgia, with his three children, expressed his difficulties in finding the strength to tell his boys about their mother’s arrest. He stated that he plans to break the news to them in the coming days, considering their young age.

The couple had filed for divorce in April, alleging Lindsay’s “adulterous conduct.” Robert is seeking sole custody of their children, as well as sole use of their $2.5 million Thomasville mansion. Moreover, he has requested the dismissal of Lindsay’s alimony request.

Lindsay had previously responded to the divorce filing, accusing Robert of domestic violence, financial control, and “physical and mental cruel treatment.” Her deposition, originally scheduled for July 18, has been rescheduled for October 31 following her arrest.

As of now, it remains unclear if Lindsay has been able to raise the $100,000 bail money to secure her release from prison.
